An American Childhood Task 1 Paper
In An American Childhood, by Annie Dillard, Dillard conveys the events that occurred throughout her life. Annie Dillard displays these events through what she is able to remember mentally and physically. Due to that, I chose to write various diary entries through Annie Dillard’s perspective. Snow is everywhere and it’s really chilly outside. My father just took my sled to go to Fifth Avenue to bring us back some milk. I hope he doesn’t get hurt or fall outside. It’s very slippery. Our little puppy was much shorter than the snow that had piled up outside. My parents thought it would be funny if they tossed the dog outside in the snow, but it wasn’t funny to me. He disappeared. Dear Diary, Our puppy finally turned up, but he went crazy and died because he had distemper. I was so upset when I heard the news. I didn’t talk to my parents for the rest of the day. I blamed them for our puppy’s death. I can’t believe he’s really gone. I don’t think I could ever replace him with another puppy. This is all too much for me in one day and it’s making me feel worse. I’m just going to try and sleep it off, maybe I’ll feel better in the morning.
