Reflection On The Learning Styles Inventory Test

Improved Essays
I have always enjoyed talking personality tests to learn and establish what my strengths and weaknesses are, and to unravel perhaps a hidden ability (or disability) I had that I was never fully aware. In other words, I like talking personality tests to plainly find out the results, no matter how accurate or off-putting, and I was not disappointed when I found out the results to the “Learning Styles Inventory” test. In order from highest to lowest, my inventory score was as followed: visual, kinesthetic, and auditory. Not knowing what each of these learning abilities quite meant, however, I read the “Characteristics of Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic Modes” as the bottom of the second page, and found it very telling. After reviewing my answers and my scores, I can argue that this test was an accurate evaluation of what type …show more content…
In the “Multiple Intelligences Assessment,” I scored the highest on self, or intrapersonal, followed by language (linguistic) and social (interpersonal). Like with the “Learning Styles Inventory” test, I was neither surprised nor disappointed to find out my results. I found myself getting excited reading the definition for each intelligence because it perfectly described how I think, how I act, what I enjoy, and what I try to avoid. For example, I like to develop ideas and learn from other people (interpersonal), I like to spend time by myself and think things over (intrapersonal), and I enjoy exploring and developing my love of words. I think it is also worth noting that intelligences that I scored the lowest on, math and musical, is also something I was no surprised to find out, for math has never been my strong suit and music has never been anything near an

He recalled the MBTI during this discussion and stated that, for his time and effort, it was a better tool of self-exploration than the 16 PF. The examinee reported that he believed he may have over thought on the multiple intelligences assessment. He said that he found himself looking for exceptions to most of the statements which may have skewed his results. This is likely true since the results from this test are out of step with the other assessments. He believes that his primary intelligences should rank verbal/linguistic first, followed by interpersonal, followed by musical.…

My finding from the self-assessment comes as no surprise. I have a kinesthetic learning style, but both visual and auditory styles are close behind, I have become flexible in learning styles, depending on the subject I am studying will determine the type of style works best to obtain the most of the information, for example, I will gain more on new work instruction at work by practicing the process several times before I am comfortable; although, when learning stories from the bible, I pick up more by discussing the topic with other church members during bible study. I am a visual learner for standardized information, I absorb best by reading the information. My temperament is a director, again, this comes at no surprise. I am a result-driven…

Initially, I was aware that I am an auditory learner before taking the learning style assessment. However, I also assumed that I would score higher as a visual learner on the questionnaire. According to my learning style results, I scored a total of thirty-two points for auditory preferences for learning, compared to my scoring for both visual and tactile learning style that resulted in twenty-six points. After evaluating my assessment, I can recall from my past experiences in several of my science courses, where I used auditory learning style more during class lectures compared to visual style. To clarify, and as stated in my previous journal entries, before changing my major to health sciences, I was a radiology major.…

When I took the learning styles assessment it concluded that I am a tactile learner, which indicates that I comprehend by doing or touching. It is difficult for me to process information just by listening or reading, I would have to physically write it down over and over for it be imprinted into my brain. I use a lot of hand gesture while speaking because it helps me remember what the situation was about, and if I need to spell out a word I have to fingerspell it out in the air. Or if I’m trying to solve a math problem in my head, I would sometimes use my finger as a pen on my desk and solve it with my imagination. The assessment states that tactile learners use flashcards and arrange them into groups by relationship in order to absorb the…

According to the Learning Styles Inventory. My most developed and strongest learning styles are bodily-kinesthetic, verbal-linguistic, musical, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. The test reveals that I am not highly developed in any particular type of intelligence and I am weak and underdeveloped in visual-spatial, logical-mathematical, and naturalist intelligences. The book suggests that as a person with stronger interpersonal strengths, study strategies such as going over notes with fellow students are helpful. Based on my results as a strong verbal-linguistic individual, rewriting my notes in order to eliminate excess information and to hone into the important ideas, would be beneficial to my success in this course.…

By reading the different intelligences that Howard Gardner wrote, I think my strongest two areas of intelligence would be Bodily-Kinesthetic, and Interpersonal. Bodily-kinesthetic to me is when you can learn things hands on to understand the picture better and get a better visual that makes since to you. I chose this one because I feel I learn better with hands on things. I understand when there is something in front of me and I can see and see how the instructor teaches us how to do what she just did. One of the examples on how I learn hands on is at school, we have classes that deal with us setting up things and passing instruments.…

Students are like snowflakes; they are unique in their own way. It would be really boring if they were all the same. According to Howard Gardner, students can learn in eight different intelligences. The eight intelligences include: linguistic, mathematical, spatial, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. Each person has their own way of learning and perceiving information based on their strengths (Multiple Intelligences, 2013).…
