The book “An Abundance of Katherines” is about a child prodigy named Colin who had a long history of dating girls named Katherine. In dating so many Katherines, he has also had a long history of being dumped by them. Having had to be dumped by Katherines, Colin wanted to become the genius he always hoped become and started to try to figure out a formula that might predict the outcome of any relationship. Meanwhile, his friend, Hassan, had planned a road trip that would later completely change the way Colin looks at love and life.
I personally think that this book is not one of the best books I’ve read, but it is still a decent book. The characters Colin, Hassan, Lindsey, and Hollis were well written, and you can easily tell what type of people

In the short story “Miss Brill” the author, Katherine Mansfield, conveys that the main character is not in touch with reality, this is evident because her tone is very positive throughout the duration of the story but later when she finds out her life isn’t what she thought she became very despondent. This shows that the theme of this story is that to things aren’t always as they may seem. Another literary device the author uses is imagery. This helps develop the theme because where and when this story takes place is very important. It is so important because if the day wasn’t so chilly she probably would not have worn her coat and those teenagers would have never made a comment about how ratty her fur was and would have never made the realization…

I have so many different thoughts and opinions about this book. I started out loving Has to Be Love, was super conflicted in the middle, but thought the ending was pretty spectacular. Like I said, conflicted. Our narrator, Clara, was rather frustrating to read about because she was so torn between what decisions to make about particular things, but she was a truthful character (to us at least). Reading Clara's justifications for wanting certain things made me more interested in the story and what would eventually happen…
