Amy Beatrice Wilson Carmichael Research Paper

Amy Beatrice Wilson Carmichael was born on December 16, 1867 to a wealthy family in Millisle, County Down, Ireland. She describes her childhood surroundings as "a little old world village of white washed cottages on the shore of the Irish Sea". She was born to Presbyterian parents, David and Catherine Carmichael and the oldest of seven children. The Carmichaels raised their children to honor the Lord in words and actions. When Amy was three years old she prayed that God would change her eye color to blue just like her older brother because her mother had told her that if Amy prays and asks God for her wants, He will grant it. She earnestly prayed hoping that next day her eyes would be different but it did not change. Her mother then explained that sometimes the Lord's answer to prayers is a solid "No." Little did she know that her brown eyes would give her advantage with the life God's has called her to live. Amy attended the Wesleyan Methodist girls boarding school and has always thought she was Christian but it was when she turned fifteen; she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. While they were out, Misaki suggested Amy to wear a kimono but Amy was cold and her diseases was bothering her so she preferred her western dress and kept it on.
