Eddie Rickenbacker once said, “Courage is doing what you’re afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you are scared.” What I believe Rickenbacker is trying to say is that you can not be brave without having the courage to face your fears. I have taken many risks and in the end they have always had purpose. Two themes present in the stories “A Day on the Slopes” and “Amra and the Skateboard” is to be brave and to take risks. “A Day on the Slopes” and “Amra and the Skateboard” both support the theme of taking risks. In the story “A Day on the Slopes” the author writes, “Bobby felt nervous and excited. “Let’s do it!” He said with a grin.” In “Amra and the Skateboard” it says, “One among the crew was sitting on his bottom, rocking back and
