Yet nobody I know happens to mention it or even contemplate it in terms of a service to society. Generally, we are quick to help people through service, but not so quick to protect the place that those people live each day: the ground we stand on and its foliage. Redwoods can live up to 1000 years, but several of them will not survive this long due to deforestation.
