We can't just go around and charge all the child soldiers in the world. That would absolutely be ridiculous, first of all that would cost too much money and not all child soldiers are like Omar Khadr. But that also doesn't mean we become too lax, giving on amnesty. There needs to be boundaries and limits. If a child was given so many drugs to the point where they can't think clearly then yes, they should be given amnesty because the drugs controlled them. But if they killed someone, then there will need to be some kind of consequence. If they have committed a war crime while not drugged, they should not be given amnesty, but again if they were under any substance then there would need to be consequences. Lastly, if they were forced to fight and did not enjoy it, they should be given amnesty because they were taken from their homes, forced to fight under a law like “Fight to kill, or leave and be killed.” and they did not enjoy in mentally. However if they enjoyed killing and fighting, they should not be given legal forgiveness because they liked what they were doing and had fun just like Omar Khadr, who said “The day that I planted those land mines to kill the Americans and coalition forces was the happiest day of his life.” Also, if we were going to charge all child soldiers that would take too much time. …show more content…
However there still needs to be qualifications to be given amnesty. Like they were given too much drugs, have never killed anyone, or have only been a child soldier for a year or two. This problem affects many people everyday, since this topic is so different and complex there are many ways someone can look at this topic. There needs to be some type of boundary and limit to help stop child soldiers around the world. Some people might say that they should be given amnesty because they were forced to be a cold solder, or they were drugged, that's true. But I guess what i'm trying to get out of this is that there are too many ways for someone to look at this and say what needs to happen for this topic. Since this topic is very different in many different ways. There are no solutions; there are only trade-offs. — Thomas
