Ametuer Personal Statement

Not letting people’s attitudes get to me has been quite the rollercoaster for me. I tended to take everything people said to me to heart, even if it was just a compliment. I lived in my head and overanalyzed every situation I was a part of. When I entered high school, I was vulnerable and just wanted to fit in. I found my place of comfort through art, which enabled me to want to pursue a career in the art field. Art allowed me to break out my shell and gain a confidence that I didn’t know I had. Being an ametuer artist has already allowed me to grow and sculpt a future that is curated just for myself. Confidence is created when someone feels good on the inside and lets the entire world know. Art kept me grounded when I struggled with losing friends I thought would be by my side for a long time. Whether it be digital art or just simply painting, art is a great stress reliever for me. I could get lost in a project for hours before I had to snap back to reality. The reality of life is that people leave for a reason, and art helps to express the sorrow that comes along when a friendship comes to a halt. I’m also grateful now that I’ve found a supporting group of friends that allows me to express myself in ways that words …show more content…
Since art is so subjective, it’s nice to see everyone’s opinions and critiques of a piece of my work. The tranquility that drawing and painting gives leaves me with is reflection of what I can see in the future. It leaves my mind with a blank slate that can be open to new interpretations of more imaginative ideas. Since everything now can be seen as shapes, it gives me a newfound love and appreciation for artists of every type. Music, drawing, theater, all have hours of production that gives a beautiful final product, much like I do with my own art. Constantly working to improve my artistry is the only way I can see myself living a healthy life. I want to continue to express myself in whatever ways come up. Maybe in a few years it won’t be through painting, but maybe film. I’m open to changes in my life; I just want to keep doing what makes me a happy
