America's Got Talent Vs Chicago Fire

Decent Essays
I Choice the TV shows America’s Got Talent and Chicago Fire because they are definitely not like each other. First of all, Chicago Fire is a show about the firefighters, rescue squad members and paramedics of Chicago firehouse 51. America’s Got Talent is a talent show that Auditions people from all across the country, to find performers and groups of all kinds. These two shows are on my list because first of all, I love America’s Got Talent because there is always something new that you will see on the show every year, and you fall in love with the contestants. Chicago Fire I love because the show is right up my ally I love medical shows and shows with a lot of action, and drama. That is why even though these shows are very different,

How the Great Chicago Fire started will forever be a mystery. I know what started it, it was natural causes because it's hard to believe that a person with a peg leg could run 250ft in the time that he said he ran. Also Mrs. O'Leary couldn't have milked her cow in the middle of the night with no light but a lantern. The lantern is a fire hazard because you had to light it with fire. Plus the wood that was the city was dry so it was really flammable.…

One’s greatness and way of life can be dependent on one, or multiple objects, but that person may not realize it. This can be shown in the books, The Fallen and The Fallen 2 by Thomas E. Sniegoski. After Aaron and Camael had left, they go to a town in Maine, thinking Stevie will be there. Eventually they run into a malevolent foe of the Powers and the Creator. Aaron summons a mighty sword that helps rescue an angel, Gabriel, who helps him realize more than ever who he is.…

The Chicago Fire On that devastating day on October 8, 1871, the unspeakable happened, when a fire broke out in a barn, the owners of the barn being the O’Learys, that soon destroyed almost all of Chicago. In this essay, I will be proving the statement “Everything Went Wrong,” out of a book that I read about the Chicago fire, called The Great Fire, by Jim Murphy. Here are some details to prove that during that fire “Everything went wrong.” My first detail to show that “Everything went wrong” on that day is that when the fire was noticed, people were ignoring alarms, AND the wind was picking up. You must be wondering, “Why would anyone ignore alarms?”…

Media Studies scholar Amy-Chinn Dee touches upon this troubling narrative here as she believes creator and writer Joss Weldon ultimately fails Inara as a women with agency by falling back on harmful tropes. In this particular episode of the show, Mal is off kilter upon first meeting this incredibly beautiful and business savvy woman whom he attempts to discredit and annoy. His continued nature toward her throughout the series suggests that he romantic feelings for her but is at odds with her professions which aids in giving her agency. “Yet whore stigma clearly remains a trope of the Firefly universe. In the flashback to Inara’s first encounter with Mal in “Out of Gas” (that recounts how she came to rent the shuttle)…

The Civil War, a time that determined the independence and survival of the Union for the Confederacy. This particular war began in 1861 and lasted until 1865, many events occurred during these years. I read through three websites with tons of information over the Civil War soldiers, Gettysburg Address speech and Team of Rivals. The life of soldiers during the Civil War was quite interesting. Their life on camp had differences with Officers and Enlisted Men, one having more freedoms than the other.…

I chose modern family and black-ish before Empire because both of these shows are family related as well is empire. I put Mordern family first because this show is based off a white family that has a lot of family issues such as Empire. I thought it would be good to include both of the shows on the same day because it could be called "family night". On the other hand Black-ish is also a family based show a very successful family but the father of this family thinks his success has brought too much cultural assimilation for his family. I put Empire at 8:00pm because at that most people are home from work and ready for chill time.…

American critic James Wolcott once said “In the voyeurism of Reality TV, the viewer 's passivity is kept intact, pampered and massaged and force-fed Chicken McNuggets of carefully edited snippets that permit him or her to sit in easy judgment and feel superior at watching familiar strangers make fools of themselves. Reality TV looks in only one direction: down.” Welcome to my first blog post, in this post I plan to focus mainly on reality TV and how emotion plays such an important part within our role as audience members. James Walcott describes perfectly my idea of reality TV and how accepting our society is when it comes to consuming this genre of television. For my last seminar we were required to read a text by William Brown, I found this article intriguing due to his idea of “personae” which I felt goes hand in hand with reality TV.…

The Harlem Hellfighters: Determination Knows No Color Even though the Harlem Hellfighters were abused and segregated from war, they were still determined to try their best to gain respect from other soldiers and to show the importance of African Americans. The early 1900s were a time when Jim Crows laws dictated where blacks went, ate, slept, and learned. It banned them from specific facilities and what they can and can't do. The Jim Crows laws enforced racial segregation in the Southern States. “We must not eat with them, must not shake hands with them, seek to talk to them or to meet with them outside the requirements of military service.…

“Anime,” or japanese animation as it’s referred to, is a form of animation made in Japan that is broadcasted on television or streamed through dedicated streaming websites and services. Although highly popular throughout the world, it is gaining popularity throughout the U.S. While traditional American television is the staple among viewers in the U.S, it can be strongly argued that anime is better than traditional American TV. One particular reason why anime is better than traditional American television is that everyone is accustomed to seeing some form of animation one way or another in their lives. For example, while growing up in America one is accustomed to, at their youth, been shown animations or cartoons. This is due to the fact that…
