In the mid 1940’s to the late ’50s, when television was in its infancy, there was a man that proved network television could be a success due to the outlandishness of a character. George Wagner was a professional wrestler back then, which later became known as a golden era, during a time when kayfabe was alive and well (For those who don’t know wrestling terms, kayfabe essentially means that nobody knew professional wrestling was pre-determined). But when Wagner adopted his in-ring persona of “Gorgeous” George, both his and the sport’s popularity exploded. That’s right, watching wrestling used to be a household activity. What a time to be alive.…

Throughout the many years of WWE, women have never really been taken seriously in the male dominated sport of professional wrestling. The male audience considers that the women are merely eye candy and are considered the bathroom break of the whole show. Most of the time, the women are only allowed a measly 5-10 minutes to wrestle or tell a story in the ring. This has led to the WWE universe to stand up to the higher officials and demand more respect for their female performers. The WWE needs to stop discriminating against the women and shine them in a more positive light.…

Since the time of the Greeks and Romans, wrestlers have competed both on the battle field and at home to see who will win. Many sports advertise challenging competition similar to that of wrestling, but very few can follow through with these promises. This happens because these other sports do not build themselves on set standards such as mental and physical strength and technique. These important parts of wrestling have set it apart for centuries. As a wrestler, I know that these standards make wrestling not only a sport, but a lifestyle.…
