The women I knew had to watched what they said and did because it would only reinforce stereotypes. Not only were they required to be professional out at work, but needed to uphold their parents and in laws super conservative standards at home. My mother worked long hours in a hospital as an RN, took care, and raised two girls, cared for her elderly mother, and payed all the bills despite my father being present and employed. She had to take care of everything and that was not an uncommon thing, I witnessed it in other households as well. I also saw that when a black woman was living her life for her own freely, people from her own community would be upset with her for not living life the right
