This theory “better understanding to present social conditions, how these conditions evolved, how they are transformed, how they interact with each other” (Siebert, 2014, p. 2). Therefore, this theory will be used in order to analyze the social condition of the case study and discuss how these conditions evolved. Complexity theory will also be used to analyze this case study. This is a belief that people “actively construct or create their own subjective representations in objective reality” (“Constructivism,” 2016, p. 1). To put that in more simple terms, this means that things only exist once people have accepted it in their subjective world. This means that nothing really exists to a person, if that person does not believe that it exists. Lastly, complexity theory will be used in order to analyze the complexity of the article. Surprisingly, her union actually supported her in the case and backed her up as she went forth with her argument. When this case was brought to court, the female teaching assistant brought up the point that the male teaching assistant was making more than her for doing the same amount of work. However, she also brought up some other really interesting points. She was not just any kind of teaching assistant. She was a special needs teaching assistant, unlike her male correspondent. This means that she not only had to prepare lesson plans, but she had to specifically tailor those lesson plans to fit the needs of the children who have a host of special needs and independent education plans. She actually made the argument in court that, “her job also required a high level of skill in knowing of developments in occupational, speech and behavioural therapy, knowledge of the school curriculum and specific skills in working with autistic children.” (European Commission, 2016, p. 2). Logically, one would think that if this teaching assistant is doing the difficult task of not only teaching and enriching you minds in the classroom, but teaching and enriching minds with learning and developmental disorders, that she would be paid accordingly.
