We may all know that America is a melting pot, but we usually fail to know how to respond to its diversity. We prone to treat every group of people the same way, and be influenced by the media. American Studies class was not merely about the lecture, but also about the discussion and opinion-sharing, which offered me opportunities to hear and understand other’s ideas about various matters, from identity, to violence, media, drugs, and career. If I just look at its face value, I would neglect the key elements. American Studies class has inspired me to view things both with inside-out and outside-in way. This is important to me not just because of my interest in culture, generally and American culture, particularly, but also because it assists me to adapt well to the new environment as a new person here.
Although I have not witnessed dramatic changes of myself after American Studies class, and personally, it is unrealistic as a three-month course can transfer me into a better person, I have learned good lessons. Definitely, I will make mistakes from my carelessness, and my writing requires more improvement. Yet, I know my way of thinking is not as the same as it used to be, and to me, that is a beautiful enough
