He decided to join the Navy because he was pissed off and wanted to provide protection for his country. He wanted to make a difference instead of doing nothing. Shortly after Chris was accepted into the Navy he decided to go to Iraq to fight for his Country. He spent four tours in Iraq, which is about 6 years. Even though he was saving many lives, it still took a dramatic toll on his life. He went through stages where he couldn’t even function in life because all he could think about was what if someone were trying to kill me. When a fellow Marine talked to him, Chris couldn’t comprehend what they were saying because all he could see was war. He was unable to see pass the bomb attacks and killings. His wife couldn’t understand what was going on because he wouldn’t tell her. Chris was distant from his friends and family. He saw things he couldn’t seem to get out of his mind. In one scene Chris watched the enemy saw off a little boy’s leg and kill him. He couldn’t do anything about it, which scared him deep. Chris had to take shots at children that were running at his team with bombs; this damaged him in many ways. He did anything he had to do to protect his fellow seals. Chris had a beautiful wife and two kids, a boy and girl. Chris and his wife went through a rough patch. She wanted to help him, but he continued to shut her out. Taya (Chris’s wife) wanted him to come home with her and the kids. He didn’t want to be away from his family, but he felt like his work wasn’t fully fulfilled
