PTSD stands or post-traumatic stress disorder. It is a mental illness that some people get after witnessing or experiencing a dangerous or fearful event in their life (BOOK). No body has to fight in wars to acquire this illness. The cause of PTSD can originate from a natural disaster, horrifying experience, fear, or helplessness(BOOK). In women's cases, assault, rape, and domestic violence are the leading causes for this illness (BOOK). Overall seeing someone die, or knowing someone that died can be the major component that gives people this terrible illness(BOOK). Serving this country and sacrificing a life for many shows the commitment to keeping the peace and freedom of this great nation. War has been upon us for many years now. Currently fighting ISIS on the front of terror has been a disaster. I encourage anyone to watch the movie American Sniper, (based on a true story) you will see what Chris Kyle (the skilled 150+ confirmed kills sniper-man) goes through after his many tours in Iraq. It becomes quite obvious what he is suffering from (PTSD). From what the movie shows he is not interested in getting help or talking about his experiences in Iraq at first. He is more concentrated on getting back to the war and helping his fellow troops take down the bad guys. These are just a couple signs and symptoms that convey to us what Chris Kyle was going through. The comments and decisions he made in the movie portrayed that same demeanor. He would rather be thrown back into the war zone and fight for his country. Due to the fact that his mind and body have been stuck on fighting for so long. Even when the man is home with his wife safe and sound he still looks very bothered and out of place. You can tell he is not at peace with himself. That scares his wife and drives their marriage apart. He later agrees to seek medical attention and stops touring Iraq with his fellow Navy Seal buddies. Chris Kyle gets his life back and renews his relationship with his wife and looks like the old Chris we

Chris died along with his friend Chad Littlefield after taking Eddie Routh, who was a veteran with PTSD and Schizophrenia out to a shooting range. He shot both men, killing them before fleeing to his sister’s house where he admitted the murders to her. It is ironic that both men had shared text messages at the range about watching each other's backs and calling Routh crazy. Four months after Routh had been arrested, he told the sheriff that, “I was just riding in the back seat of the truck, and nobody would talk to me. They were just taking me to the range, so I shot them.…

All these series of events lead to Chris eventually ditching home. This scene portrayed Kyle, who was no longer obligated to U.S. military service and then he essentially had an identity crisis; everything he had trained for, was taught, mentored other service members, and lived for no longer was vital to his day to day life. This for some is the hardest thing to accept, to close a chapter in your life that was a rollercoaster of experiences and emotions, I know of many colleagues and myself who tried to cope with this fact with the assistance of alcohol. Which also brings up surprising statistics of substance dependent veterans and also veterans that commit suicide after returning home. Depression, addiction, and survivors’ guilt, are fairly common among veterans that come back to the civilian world, and with limited resources to help veterans and their families many go unnoticed until it is too late. Chris Kyle did briefly go through this until he started to be an active volunteer for the VA (Veterans Association) and started to help other veterans find their calling or ease their current feeling (guilt/pain/depression etc.) of coming back…

This makes the audience feel like Chris is a true patriot who is willing to stand up when somebody challenges America. The continues stresses between him and his wife Taya on tour in Iraq show how he is just like everybody else. American Sniper (2014), directed by Clint Eastwood, has been a film of much controversy. Many people believe that the film is propaganda glorifying war and American patriotism is being used as an excuse for war. Some were uncomfortable with the fact that the film shows women and children engaged in war and being shot down as enemies. The unfortunate truth is that women and children are indeed apart of urban warfare. To deny this fact is to deny the reality of war.…

Ever since the film American Sniper managed to rack in ninety million dollars over Martin Luther King weekend, I’ve been wondering if Walter White had it all wrong; the Clint Eastwood blockbuster made more money over 72 hours than an international drug empire made in an entire year — and it also had a higher body count, which is an impressive feat when you’re in the wake of an AMC show. But as someone who suffered through all three hours of American Snipers, let me start by saying that even from a non-political view, it’s a crappy movie. I tend to dislike war films (I’m as liberal as they come) but I’ve always respected Eastwood’s artistic styles, and so I went into American Sniper with a cautious optimism — only to be disappointed by its…

American Sniper is a first person recollection, by Chris Kyle, of his experiences in war being a Navy SEAL and becoming known as one of the most lethal snipers in United States history. The book takes the form of an autobiography with Chris telling his story from growing up to retiring from the military, but throughout the book, through the use of intermittent dialogues by his wife Taya, Chris’ conflicting thoughts during his enlistment, and the emotions that the reader is meant to feel, he clearly sends the message of how military service affected his family but more specifically how it affect all military families. During the book, Chris Kyle’s wife Taya jumps in with her personal thoughts about many different things but more often than…
