In a time of war anything can happen, especially during a civil war. In this short story there are two snipers, the Republican and the Free Stater, an old woman, and a third man. Both snipers are on roofs on opposite sides from each other in Dublin, Ireland. An armored car crosses O’Connell Bridge and stops just below the sniper’s position. An old woman with a shawl around her head comes out of a side street to talk with a man in the turret of the armored car. The sniper wants to shoot at the armored car, but he knows that his bullets will not penetrate its fortified exterior.The Republican sniper gets shot by the other wounding him where he can no longer pick up his sniper.
