American Sniper Book Report

The autobiography, American Sniper, was published in 2014. Chris Kyle began writing the book before his death in 2013. Chris Kyle served in 1999 until 2009 in the Iraq War. Kyle was a Navy SEAL sniper who killed at least 160 people during his deployment. He was known as the most deadly man alive and had a $20,000 bond on him when he was known as “The Devil of Ramadi.” American Sniper is a nonfiction story that tells about Kyle’s life. He was born and raised in Texas and even at a young age he had very good aim with a gun. After training is finished Kyle meets his future wife, Taya. She tells him that she would never marry a SEAL because they are self-centered and arrogant. He says that he didn't become a cowboy because he thought he was meant for more. When he see's stuff on the news about the war, he gets very angry that he is at home not being able to help. Even when Kyle returns home his mind still seems to be in the war. His wife is worried about him because he will not talk about what is bothering him or whats making him so quiet. Even though he has left the war and is home safely, he still thinks about all the men who he should have saved. Everyone calls Kyle a legend, which he doesn't seem to like, he just wanted to help save the people he is fighting with and the country he is fighting for. I think that this is a great book because it does truly tell the story of a legend. He does not want to be known as the “American Sniper.” He wants to be known as Chris Kyle who risked his life to save the country he loves. This was totally worth the read, and I would not change the book in any way. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend because it's not only a great book, but it tells a great story about someone that cared for more than just
