There are many things that I regret. I regret not taking American Sign Language my freshman year of high school because I could be in ASL 4 right now and not in ASL 3. I regret not working with horses or just animals in general because I could be so much further in my education working with them than I am now. I regret not going to any of the homecoming dances in high school because I heard they were so much fun and I did not want to go to any of them. I regret not paying attention in some of my classes because I could be a lot smarter if I paid attention. I regret not going to all of the football games or the basketball games throughout my years at AHS. I regret focusing on homework and my grades so much that sometimes I would cry because I got so frustrated. I regret not getting my …show more content…
I regret not going to concerts at Klipsch Music Center or just going to concerts in general. I regret not having as many animals as I wanted. I regret a lot of things but most importantly the things I regret happened in the past and I have to move on and only look for the future and never dwell on anything in the past. Regretting something is something that you should never do because if you regret something can make you feel so bad about yourself. I do regret a lot of things but I will say some things that I do not regret. I do not regret being friends with Sarah Aleshire from kindergarten and it is still going on today. This is the longest friendship that I have ever had, she helps me through everything. I am excited to graduate with her and still be able to call her my best friend. I do not regret coming to Anderson High School instead of going to Noblesville like everyone said I should have done when I moved to Noblesville. I do not regret rescuing my dog, Jimmie, he is a great dog even though he can be a pain in the rear sometimes. I do not regret taking hard classes in high school because I loved the hard work that we had to put in even though it made me

Something I have regret doing is messing around at soccer and getting put on a team that I don't belong on and while my friends where focusing and trying and putting effort and showing that they care and getting put on the better team. Why I chose to horse around is because other people were also messing around and I my friends were not so then after that I have put full effort in anything even in practice and to always to give it 100%. I regret doing this because this now affects the way I look to people and the coaches so now i'm not likely to be on that list for people that care but later in the season I did my best and was told you are on the 1st team so now I need to focus and give it my all every…

Project Nim is a movie documenting the research project conducted by Herbert Terrace, a professor of psychology at Columbia University. The research project was established to determine whether a chimpanzee raised by humans from infancy, like a human child would be, could develop language skills in American Sign Language. He believed that if chimpanzees could be taught how to articulate what they were thinking about, it would be an incredible expansion of human communication and possibly give insight as to how language evolved. This was the main motivation to start Project Nim. Mr. Terrace implemented various learning settings with multiple teachers.…

The American Sign Language (ASL) Club made its debut at Ramapo College educating the community during an event associated with Disability Awareness Month. “We believe in more than fighting the stigma. We want to push for equality and respect,” said junior Kira Abrams, president of ASL Club. “We hope to achieve an environment where disability is seen as a different and equally valid way of navigating the world, where a person who requires some accommodations to do well in an environment structured specifically for the typical type of person is just as worthy of respect and is not lesser for getting necessary help to achieve equality.” To achieve this vision of equality, educating society about deaf culture and its significance to members…

The Classroom Culture study involved studying, collecting, and analyzing the information, which was provided by the different classrooms and each of their environments. In order to begin the Classroom Culture study one must start by gathering information. One gathers the information by taking note of where the students sit in the classroom. Also, one should take notice whether the professor uses helpful modules to instruct and what style of teaching the professor uses. One should also observe whether or not students feel comfortable in the class, because this might affect whether or not students are successful in the course.…

I find American Sign Language very interesting because it is a completely different language and culture to learn about. I also find this topic interesting because of what people said about Deaf people and how sign language isn’t a real language in earlier years. Deaf people who people see them as “handicapped” and people that aren’t “normal”. American Sign Language is a way of communication between a culture, just like Spanish, German, French, Chinese, and Swahili are real languages. The reason I bring up these languages is that if they are real languages, those that speak it may have or be an interpreter; if English-speaking people are talking with someone of a different language by them, it is rude to not include them in the conversation.…

A couple months ago, I was confronted with the project of mastering an ability, whether it be starting from the beginning, or improving. Obviously it would take up a lot of time, so I wanted my ability to be something useful to me that I can use in my everyday life. I have always wanted to become fluent in a language, causing my influence to choose to improve my American Sign Language. At the beginning of this project, I was only a mere beginner at signing, but wanted to expand my knowledge, vocabulary, and general understanding of the language, pushing myself to increase my fluency. Through this process, I faced more challenges in learning this language than I expected to, but accomplished all of my goals, and feel much more confident in my…

I can not tell exactly where I will be in five years. I can only aspire and hold my breath to say I will be well versed in the deaf community. Somewhere, whether that be a hospital, school, court room, or church, assisting deaf people to access their world. When I was in sixth grade I attended vacation bible school at my grandmothers’ church, were they taught motions with your hands to every song. I loved that concept, every time I got the chance I would sign the motions over and over.…
