Introduction
Have you ever wondered why the neighboring countries closest to Syria do not help with the refugee crisis even though they have the resources and money? The closest countries to Syria should accept refugees because other countries are overflowing with immigrants, which consequently causes many problems as the wealthy Arabic countries stand by and do close to nothing. Saudi Arabia, and many more countries are very close to Syria but they are not accepting refugees in their country. These countries should accept refugees because, it was an international responsibility to house them, as many countries have already accepted many thousands. These countries are taking it upon themselves to help and open their border gates for these people, because of the violence that has increased along with the problem of poverty in Syria. (Andrew) While some European countries are taking refugees they still get criticized for how “little amount” they allow in their country, and discriminating against the refugees they take in. (Ishaan) In addition, Turkey has become one of the world’s largest takers in welcoming refugees in accordance with the United Nations High Commission on Refugees or UNHCR. (Kemal) Complicating the matter, Turkey has recently released that they have reached their limit with refugees and are packed full; therefore, they cannot allow any more refugees in as of now. (Kemal) Also, refugee camps are being set up in Italy, Greece and other areas outside the European Union. (Andrew) It has been predicted that 120,000 refugees will be split up between European Union countries, even though Greece and Italy have already agreed on sharing 40,000 refugees between each other. (Andrew) As for the United States and the European Union, they are two of the only places left available that have the necessary resources to support the refugees and not erode their culture. (Luke) Many Germans have taken cars full of miscellaneous supplies that refugees might need that includes clothes, blankets, food and stuffed animals for children and infants. (Luke) But studies have shown that 70% of the people helping refugees in Germany are actually female. (Luke) Germany’s goal is to take in hundreds of thousands of people by the end of 2015, though this number has recently increased to a number of one million. (Andrew) As for in Lebanon and Jordan these countries have taken a great amount of refugees. (Kemal) Even though Lebanon is in a political crisis due to their government’s terrible failure to collect and deal with their citizens garbage; they still find a way to help these people. (Kemal) At the moment there are about four refugees for each citizen in Lebanon. (Kemal) Though because of how many people are inhabiting Lebanon, the resources in their country are becoming scarce along with public services being limited. (Kemal) Let alone in Jordan there are 630,000 people being taken under their care at the moment. (Kemal) But because of all the people taking refuge in Jordan, and these said people needing jobs, there has been an uprise in unemployment. (Kemal) As for Lebanon and Jordan these countries have said they have reached their limit in what they are able to do for the refugees as they are packed full.
