Miscommunication and poor strategic planning are the two main reasons why the American Red Cross has undergone such scrutiny for mismanagement. The American Red Cross has a huge problem with miscommunication. During the months of August and September 2005 it appeared as though the right hand didn’t know what the left hand was doing. Rightfully so, the American Red Cross was criticized on how they handled Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Thousands of dollars were contributed from citizens to aid those in need.
