As Eleni Towns stated, “a wave of patriotism swept the nation,” as people began doing all they could to help those in need. Flags were hung at half-mast all over the country, and everywhere you turned, there was something to remind you of what had just occurred. People across the country came together to show the country's true colors through an immense amount of donations of time and money to help clean up, rebuild, and support those who were most affected. There is no way of getting around it; 9/11 had great economic, social, and political effects, but yet we have been able to overcome it in such a way that it has spurred growth and a better future. It was one of the worst days in American history; yet it has helped to propel forward movement towards a better
