The degenerative disease that I have chosen is Cirrhosis.
Cirrhosis is scarring of the liver. It happens when someone has had an injury or disease for a long time that scar tissue starts to form. Is not always known what may be causing it, but there are some things that can cause it. It can be alcoholism, obesity or viruses. According to the Department of Health and Human services, cirrhosis/ chronic liver disease was one of the leading cause of death for American Indians. American Indians and Alaskan natives are 2.6 times more likely to be diagnosed with this disease.
