American Imperialism In The Revolutionary War

The American colonist rebelled against the British to gain identity as a republican society. Among the colonies raised an issue on who will rule the home font. During the revolutionary war, there was a rebellion against the trade restriction that Britain was imposing on America. Therefore Americans were influenced on Patrick Henry by wanting freedom from the king that was Patrick Henry’s purpose for his speech. The British colonist decided to stay loyal to the king because they thought there was no need to change leaderships. The colonist were complaining because they had never had to pay taxes. The reasons why taxes were imposed because they were intended to to pay for the protection of the colonist from Indians and the French who objected to the colonization of land they considered theirs. The loyalist on the other hand were often colonist who were born in britain and appreciated the opportunities for land and jobs here while feeling close ties to the mother country. Loyalist simply did not think they needed to change leaderships and many “rebels” were in favor of retaining ties with britain while gaining a larger degree at home rule and also the British army was very powerful against the colonist.The loyalists knew that the number one power in the world was England, not only militarily, but economically as well. Some maybe feared the power of England and therefore stayed loyal. Others knew that as the number one economic power, England was the buyer of American raw goods and agricultural products. Another reason is as long as American colonies were closely tied to England, the great British Navy would protect American products.The British Navy helped stop them The loyalists didn't want that protection to end. Also the frontier British troops were protecting the colonies along the Appalachian Mountains. They were willing to pay taxes in order to pay for the British troops in the colonies. Also the British had a strong, established economy and trading fleet, and the colonies were able to reap the benefits of that system.
