(The basis of being an American) America is a relatively young country in comparison to its counterparts. The birth of America was roughly two hundred fifty years ago. The ages of many other countries doubles or even triples that. Despite its short life, America has come to be known as the greatest nation in the world, a melting pot of people. Many ethnicities consider themselves American, so what exactly is an American? Is it a geographical location of people, an ideal or a birthright? The answer is all three, Americans are based geographically, ethically, and ideally. Technically, Americans could be defined by the area that they are located in, specifically, the region of the United States of America. The USA is found on the continent of North America, between Mexico and Canada. This area makes anyone inside an American by space standards. Many foreign exchange students come to America to understand our culture better, and while they are here, they get to experience all that America has to offer just as a person actually living here. Not many people outside of America would understand this concept, but for those that are here and have explored or taken any American history classes, would more than likely agree. America, so far, hasn’t lost a single war – knock on wood – including the one for their independence, and two world wars to name a few. Also, America isn’t a nation of traditions, we happen to celebrate what anyone wants to celebrate. Generally, we are respectful and tolerant to others sexual and religious preferences. Finally, America is a place to explore, from the cold rocky mountains, to the hot Gulf of Mexico, and the rolling plains between, it has a little bit of
