Progressivism The industrial revolution was a period throughout the world that ushered in new ideas that affected the former way of living. In the United States from 1900-1917 the industrial revolution played an important role on the development of the country. No longer were United State citizens staying put in the Northeast and the South. They sought for westward expansion or better known as manifest destiny. The mission of westward expansion was accomplished with the help from the 9th and 10th Cavalry and the 24th and 25th Infantry. These units were better known as the Buffalo Soldiers. African-Americans began to become more prevalent in America with the signing of the 13th and 14th amendment and women began fighting for equal rights. The era of progressives touched basis in both rural and urban America. Progressivism became somewhat of a brother with modernity, as the significance was displayed in the 1912 presidential election. The winner of the 1912 election, essentially, had complete control over the amount of modernity that America would swallow. The progressive era, by far, was a significant moment in the world and had a huge impact on the growth and development in America. This era created people that bought into the changes that were taking place known as progressives. Several pioneers for progressivism was former president Theodore Roosevelt, Frederick Winslow Taylor, George Washington Carver, Jane Addams, and many more. These influential individuals aimed at making America better by adapting to the changes out of the new lives that progressivism was creating. The campaign of progressivism belongs in the successful category because of the effect of the many cultural and social changes mentioned above. Despite the bumpy road that African-Americans faced to being fully accepted as American citizens or the disrespect that women faced during a gender biased America. Time after time cultural revolutionaries devoted their time into gaining rights for their fellow African-American or their fellow women. African-Americans faced more scrutiny then women but women faced similar challenges in terms of politics, job equality, biasness, and several more encounters that challenged both groups to fight for a change. Change was something that was evident and would later be achieved as the old American system began to slowly die as morals and the image of America began to change. Without a doubt the reason for the changes of America for the greater good derives from the successful time of the progressive
