This discovery and the wanting for gold is what started the California Gold Rush in 1849. Now the nation has grown wealthy because of its plentiful resources. Science and technology have also played an important part in the U.s. Americans have always been trying new things; new inventions, ideas, and new technology. Well the U.s was settled by people who “turned away from old ways and tried new ones.” The U.s has not only grown in size but also in power and influence.
