The progressivism should integrate several subjects that are centered around the students, their growth, action, process and change, equality, and be centered around the community. My progressivism philosophy teaching method will impact my American History class by allowing each student to have a voice, and to actively be involved by role play, by using group projects, and teaching that they are a part of our American History. By modeling real life, the students learn how to collaborate to come up with one solution, rather than having me just tell them the correct answer. This method is a good way for the students to develop critical thinking skills and learn problem solving. Without problem solving abilities, an individual is lost in trying to make their way through society that characterizes the m today. Since progressivism is influenced by contemporary society, it is only right that the progressivism curriculum is built on providing instruction for students that ranges from basic real world skills to higher levels of investigation and analysis. I do believe that these are skills that students can use for a lifetime. Another major part of progressivism is teaching the whole child. This is teaching students to be good citizens and not just good learners. For example, I would design a unit that explores issues like human rights or why voting is important. I could choose literature that teachers students values, like honesty and justice. In this way, I would be teaching the children how to be good citizens and not just teaching them facts and figures. Another process that can be used in my practical teaching method would be role play. The role play process provides a life sample of human behavior that serves as a vehicle for students to explore their feelings and gaining sight into attitudes, values, and ways. For example, a reenactment of the battle of Little Big Horn could be done, which allows
