Oksana's Coming To America Essay

Immigration is a big issue, especially certain countries citizens wanting to come to America. Some citizens have a hard time getting to America cause of America, and some countries citizens have a hard time getting here from their own countries. Oksana’s coming to the United States was not the easiest and I’m going to discuss how that is. Immigration is a real problem for many foreign citizens like Oksana and her family, and it is a real problem in the United States also. In the book American Gypsy, it jumped right into Oksana and her family getting to go to America. It is crucial for some family’s to get to America, the land of the “free.” In the start of the book, Oksanas mother was telling her husband not to speak. To get to America (legally) can be a problem. Russia is a country that is strict. The slightest mistake in an interview to get to The United States of America. The only reason Oksanas mother did not want her husband to speak to the American Embassy worker, was due to him cussing every sentence. The embassy worker then asked Oksanas dad “why he wanted to exist in the United States.” This in the book is were problems could have happened very quickly, but somehow turned out good for their family. Donald trump would be a good example if he became president. He is wanting to build a wall on the Mexican and American border. This will allow no illegal immigrants into America. I think this is a very dumb idea. Some of the hardest workers in America are illegal immigrants. Like Oksana and her family, getting to America is a challenge, or it is going to be.
