American Gangster Movie Analysis

Telling the story of history is a very hard thing to do for a film maker. They must take a point in time that may have expanded the course of a year or more, and make it into a one and a half to two hour movie. For the movie to be as cohesive and interesting as possible, things have to be changed and added into the story. This was the situation in the movie American Gangster. This is about a Drug kingpin leader, Frank Lucas, and his road to leading the drug industry in the New york, Harlem area. Many scenes that happen in this movie, are altered from the actual history moments for the audience to better like and/or understand the scene. Well that seemed true until a good cop, Richie Roberts decided to take the case. Richie Roberts was born on June twenty ninth, 1929. Roberts lived with his grandparents until he was eight years old, when he lived with his parents. When he finished high school he joined the marine corp. Roberts said “It was the best move I ever made in my life.....Once a marine, always a marine(Waldron,NP)”. He used his experience throughout his whole life. After his term, Roberts went to college with intentions to become a lawyer. During his college career, Roberts realized that he had a great fear of public speaking, so his aspirations wouldn't go as planned. His fear lead him to stop attending classes that involved speaking in front of people. When Roberts was nearing his graduation, he had a “rude awakening(Waldron,NP)”. He was flunking out of school. “They called me into the dean's office and said, you have seven administrative F’s(Waldron,NP)”. To avoid public speaking, holden settled for a desk job at the essex county police department. Roberts decided attempt to complete law school. He struggled to find a school that accepted only three years of college experience, but found that many did. ”By day, Roberts was fighting organized crime, and by night, he was battling law school courses(Waldron,NP)”. Although Roberts was accepted to law school with three years, the rules changed so he wasn't able to take the BAR exam. Luckily, Roberts knew people in high places and was able to take the exam with a catch. The catch being that he couldn't see his results until he completed his fourth year. He then became an assistant at a prosecution office. Him and his team came acrossed a case of a drug called “Blue Magic”. He was granted the opportunity to start a squad to find the leader of this product. His plan was to either find the dealer or the
