In the text, “American Flag stands for Tolerance” by Ronald J. Allen, relates to the idea of creating communities that are inclusive of all people by stating that the American flag represents for tolerance, but also the freedom of ideas of all people. “At the core of what the flag symbolizes, then, is tolerance. More than anything else, the flag stands for free expression of ideas, no matter how distasteful” (Allen, 64-66).
