American’s do not look in the mirror and see an entitled citizen, but it is how the outside world looks upon Americans from a cultural perspective. American entitlement is really the opinion of other countries looking in. When gathering the views from other countries citizens, the opinion 's are likely to be a negative, but not in all cases. For example, “The rest of the world may think Americans eat a lot of burgers, have huge shopping malls and are ruled by an arrogant government. And yet the "Ugly American," it would seem, isn 't all bad. Americans also are seen from afar as generous tippers, friendly, uncomplicated, rich and the standard bearers of freedom, equality, creativity and technological power”(Global view: America is.., 2016).

The Associated Press sent out some of their best reporters in order to conduct interviews with citizens from all over the world. The people who agreed to be interviewed were part of each countries general public. An example of some of the responses the reporters got are as follows, “What is the first thought that comes to mind when you hear the word “America"?" “The first word that comes to mind when I hear the word America is 'Arrogance.
