Why pay $50,000 a year for four years for something that does not guarantee you a job that will pay more afterwards? Because someone told you must go to college to succeed in life? Or maybe that is what todays day in age has brainwashed the youth of America to believe. In the end is a higher education really worth it? The education system in America is flawed. One way it flawed is the price of a higher education is absurdly high. Another way the education system is flawed is your education does not give you all of the answers. There are many jobs that do not require college. Union jobs compensate hard working Americans very well, and most do not require college. These jobs are not fairly easy to get, but they are close to being as achievable as getting one after college. Another option for employment is joining the military. Most branches of the military of will accept anyone who is willing to join. Those who join the military will live a very hard lifestyle, but is guaranteed a place to live, food three times a day and the respect of everyone in America. Those three things are just a few things guaranteed by the military, but none of those are guaranteed if you go to college. Also, many successful Americans have not been to college or did not finish. For instance, Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard University. A man worth over 80 billion dollars did not need college to be successful. Another example is Mark Zuckerberg. Mark Zuckerberg also dropped out of Harvard University. Mark Zuckerberg is also worth a large amount of money, over 50 billion dollars. Those two individuals alone show that you do not need college to be successful. What is really the point to going to college? If you’re not guaranteed a job or to be successful what does college actually do? There is one simple question to that answer, college does not do much.
