Being able to live the American Dream is something that people see as possible when living in America. The American Dream is seen as getting a college degree, owning a home, being able to take vacations whenever possible, and being on the upper end of the social class ladder. This idea of living the American Dream is a very important belief that helped create the success that America is today. Many people believe that anyone who works hard and has determination can achieve this American Dream. In this day and age, experiencing the American Dream is believed to no longer be as available to Americans as it once was. The economy and corporate America have had a strong impact on the availability to reach this state of success. Everyone wants to live the American Dream, whether they know it or not. I have never met a person who did not want to become successful. Even I had a strong belief that the American Dream was achievable by anyone who set their mind on it and to anyone who made it a goal. Recently, America has changed, and I do not believe that the American Dream is available to all Americans as it once was. Despite my beliefs, Max Weber introduced a concept known as life chances. Life chances refer to the idea that an individual’s life will turn out a certain way depending on given factors, mainly socioeconomic factors. Socioeconomic factors would include one’s work experience, income, and the social and economic position of an individual’s social class. I…
