There is debate on whether or not The American Dream is still alive for todayś young adults. “Some say the “dream” is dead. WWII helped by supplying jobs that allowed people to ¨the dream¨ for families. Part of this effect were the baby boomers. Baby boomers are a group of people who were born during a certain time. “Baby boomers were born into an America of considerable wealth and economic security.” (Investopedia). Because WWII was around the time baby boomers parents would be working, factories made goods for the war, allowing baby boomers a lot of job opportunities. (Investopedia). Since the war helped baby boomers parents helped get jobs to work in factories, it was easier for people to find a job back then. In today’s society it is much harder to find a job. It is also harder to own a home, you don’t feel as “anchored” to your home town. As when baby boomers stayed where they grew up for work and family. Because of the ease with which previous generations had finding jobs, they may not realize how hard it is to find a job in present times. The job opportunities are very limited in today’s society. In order to be able to find a decent paying job an applicant may need experience along with their degree. Something that is harder for a recent college graduate to already have. Today, different countries provide different and better education for certain careers giving a boost to the chance graduates may have to getting a better paying job (KQED Education, The American Dream in Students Today).
