Is the American dream dead,is the question Americans are often asked in this day and age. Well what is the American dream anyway, well according to the textbook definition it is said “life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement.” Yet over the years the definition has changed and evolved with our society. Although it usually breaks down to everyone to have an equal opportunity to achieve success through hard work, but is that true? So is the American dream dead or alive? It is Dead and here’s why because of gender discrimination, racial discrimination, and society.

Racial discrimination is something Americans are always hearing about. But can impact the American dream you may wonder and yes it can. Recently published article by Pew research center states “according to a study blacks in STEM jobs report experiencing any of eight types of racial/ethnic discrimination (62%) then do others in STEM positions (44% of Asians, 42% of Hispanics and just 13% of whites in STEM jobs say this.)” Once again keep in mind this is just STEM jobs. Racial discrimination can make it too any type of job all the more harder for someone to move forward in the workplace and another article “racial discrimination in the workplace is hurting people and economies. Here’s what we can do about it” The article explains how economies are losing tens of billions year because of racial discrimination in the workplace. The article states “$82,300 for black households held by a college education meanwhile compared with $106,600 for comparable white households.” That’s a large difference, in fact 24,300 difference to be exact. That’s enough to support a Small minimum wage family. It’s crazy how much money they are getting cheated on so to say just because of their race. how can an American dream be achieved when families are getting shorted and people have to work twice as hard just because of the color of their skin, What happened to equal opportunity sounds like it’s been
