In the beginning of the Americas, about thirteen thousand years ago the nomads seeking food crossed off of the great land bridge during the ending times of the Ice Age in search and follow of food. When the land bridge; being a complete mass of frozen ice; began to melt these nomads were stuck in the Americas, thus beginning the evolution and adaptation process over thousands of years. These nomads adapted and evolved eventually becoming the image that comes into every modern day Americans heads when the word Native American is brought up. Over time the nomads who were trapped multiplied, and branched off into five hundred sixty two separate groups called tribes. These groups in themselves decided their beliefs, and alone decided how they would live. But even though many of these groups differed greatly they had many similar features, a lot of which come to play when it comes time to have a funeral. But even in these times people were still left questioning whether there is a life after death, and if so what type of life there is after death. Many people questioned whether there was a specific way to deal with the corpse, but the question of what happens to the soul is one still left open for debate to this day. How well funded and how the funeral appeared depended on what the social status of the deceased was.
