weaknesses. One weekness I will need to overcome is being too independent and not going to other for help when I and unfamiliar with something. Also I will need to work on my perceptual acuity. By using my strength and being aware of my weaknesses there are many strategies that can help when treating people from another cultural background.
Since Aiko is from a Japanese culture one strategies will be to build a positive relationship with her and her family is to respect, and address the whole family. It is common in Japanese culture to have collectivistic values. It will be important to address both Aiko’s mother and grandmothers concerns. If Aiko’s family can become involved, and assist with exercise and scar mobilization at home, then Aiko has a much better chance of changing her scars and regaining shoulder motion. Make sure to respectfully address Aiko’s family member that are older will be part of building this relationship. It will be vital to avoid open disagreements, instead listen and address differences in view points in an empathetic manner. The second strategy will be to show respect to figuring out what form of communication Aiko’s family prefers will be important. Whether they prefer verbal, written, pictures and diagrams or all of them. Also who you should address concerning Aiko’s case. This strategy of good communicate in a respectful manner, and avoiding

There are many culture norms to keep in mind, and there are strategies to overcome these differences and provide effective treatment. In Aiko’s case the whole family should be address, and encouraged to be involved in her treatment. Secondly, the means and tone of communication is a strategy. Being too blunt and direct will not go over well, so it would be wise to ask how ask the family’s preference and approach them with empathy.
