Seeing reports on the news every day, I see that a major theme is a deep rooted pessimism about the future state of America. No matter where you end up on the political spectrum, I can see where people in our country would feel this way. Even though the divisions in our country seem overwhelmingly insurmountable, and sometimes feeling like a “United” States isn't even possible; America’s best days are still in front of us. People see the future of America as one filled with health advances, potent militarism,technology and military tactics, however the future is filled with so much more. The true values of American culture are independence and equality. Independence, by showing off our concept of individualism. Equality, by our own Declaration of Independence stating that we are all created equal. Everyone deserves the same basic human rights, and should be treated as such. We as Americans strive to be the model for other countries who someday wish to have the same freedoms we do. In Paul McCartney’s song Hope for the Future, he states, “ Hope for the future It's coming soon enough. How much can we achieve? Hope for the future, it will belong to us
If we believe.” To me, this means that America’s future is not one of despair, but one of hope. In our current day and age, it may seem that America is going downhill. This, however, is far from the truth. America is only getting better and better. We are a young country who has yet to reach its full potential. With so many more generations and years to come, you can not help but be filled with hope. This is my vision for America.
