Not only because of how people would like to see us, but to signify that we are healthy as well. This concept is especially directed towards women since they usually want to have a thin body. One thing that creates stress for women are the size charts made for them. The sizes for ladies are in single and double digits while for us men, inches are used instead. This is shown by this quote, "Do you think women will feel paranoid if we suddenly go from a single to a double-digit number?" (Suddath 203). For men, we are not that concerned about our size unless we want to be healthy, although, there are some men who, "... are having plastic surgery to get rid of their love handles and tighten their eye bags and beef up their chins and flatten their bellies..." Both men and women may go to the extremes to lose weight, like developing eating disorders. People believe teenage girls are the only ones who suffer from eating disorders, but it's happening with men also. "Because eating disorders virtually always start with a "normal" desire to lose weight and look slimmer, the increase among men suggests that men are worrying about their looks more than they used to."
