American Assassin Character Analysis

In the American Assassin, the main character, Mitch Rapp, has already killed his target but he went against orders to do this. He was supposed to wait for backup but he committed it the first day. When he got back to the United States he is greeted by a General that asks him why he went against his orders and Rapp cannot say but a psychiatrist named Lewis says it might be out of revenge or justice and Rapp agrees with the justice. Rapp could have acted out of justice in this mission because his girlfriend was in a plane that was bombed and she could not have survived. He says in the book he changed that day and that he wants to avenge her. That chance came with the man who supplied the bomb used to down the plane. Of all the places that you could do it it had to be a crowded crew ship. My prediction to this is that the cruise will be their only opportunity to assassinate the man. In the villain's point of view, they have captured and are torturing an American spy that is scouting out the Middle Eastern area that he was captured in. It is already hinted at that the spy talked and some information was leaked. From this point, the information was also leaked back to a Russian man named Ivanov. Ivanov is a supporter of the regime in the Middle East and a very dangerous man. He is now demanding the relieving of the prisoner to him so he can get more information out of him. Along with this prisoner exchange, it is said by Ivanov that his men will deal with the rest of the americans. This is clear that something is going to happen to some Americans somewhere but it will not be the main character because they do not know anything about him. Ultimately, the American Assassin is a extremely mysterious and action packed book that leaves very little clues on to what will happen next. We can only hope that it will end up in the good guys
