This creates a dangerous situation for Israel. Republican politicians have more incentive to attack Democrats as insufficiently supportive of Israel. This could turn support for Israel now as a Republican issue, and not just an issue. If there is a Democrat in the White House, and when they pick a fight with Israel, Democratic members of Congress are torn over a choice, support their President or support an Israeli leader. This has started to happen, and there are examples of it, and yet it is only slowing the Israel-Palestine peace process. Fights between leaders could turn into policies, translate into law for the people over insignificant fights. The American political parties need to truly understand the conflict and decide what is really best for Israel and the Palestinians. The direction the U.S. Israeli relations is heading in is full of bumps in their path. They have dwindled down from what they used to be, and either side do not like where they stand. However, the leaders opposing views will keep them like this unless they can both reach some compromise. The rough relationship between the leaders, the reliance Israel has on the U.S. and the Israeli-Palestinian problems will continue until something big happens.
