With the United States being the third largest country in the world and with the population of more than 320 million, we are one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. There has been a lot of the world actually almost every region has influenced American culture, as it is a country of immigrants, most particularly the English who colonized the country beginning in the early 1600s. Native Americans, Latin Americans, Africans, and Asians has had a big influence on shaping the United States.
Sometimes you may hear the United States being described as a “melting pot”, which came from an immigrant named Israel Zangwill, this means that society inspires newcomers to adjust into American culture. Today American culture impacts the world, while other cultures from around the world have impacted American culture. A term that is often referred to the cultures of the United State and Europe would be the Western Culture. The Northeast, South, Midwest, Southeast, and Western regions of the United States all have very different traditions and customs.
