America 's collective heritage is a realization of human beings as an autonomous, self-directing individual who is set to live their life as they so desire. By looking at documents such as the Deceleration of Independence, and Andrew Carnegie 's Wealth, one understands the realization of emancipation, equality and moral affirmation of all human beings. Men are individual creatures that have natural rights that no government can rightfully impose upon. As expressed in The Declaration of Independence, the American Founders believed that we are all born with certain natural rights. "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Despite what some may claim however, the founders recognized the differential variables all humans possess including differences in appearance, personality, aptitude, skills, and character. The founders saw that all men are equal because all men share in humanity. Therefore, all are born with certain inherent, natural, and unalienable rights. This important distinction of equality means that no one is born with a natural right to rule over others without their consent, and that governments are inherently obligated to apply laws both equally and justly.
