America is a welcoming and changing society which needs to care for it’s evolving citizenship. In all honesty, I don’t see that happening. Based on recent events of the “changing society”, there have been many ethnic and racial issues because of events that have been happening these past few days. Looking into things like Trump's "stand" on athletes taking a knee during the national anthem shows that he does not even understand what the whole "taking a knee" stand even is if anything he's opening his mouth because he can. The irony here is that whether it happened a few hours ago, yesterday, last week, or many years ago, it is still considered historic because it is now in the past. As stated by Dr. Drake in many lectures, “history does not necessarily repeat itself, but it does rhyme.” From 1865 to the 2000s, different areas of history have a stronger rhyming scheme than others.…

As a society, as the Harvard business professor pointed out, we tend to beat around the bush when it comes to race. However, this is not something we are born knowing. Children at young ages do not have this issue playing the game, but by nine or ten, they had stopped distinguishing the races. This is not because they can no longer see or identify the differences but it is because they learned the culture norm of America about avoiding the topic of race. By doing so, the country as a whole has mitigated its communication in not only the day-to-day situations, but also in things as serious as our government.…

In our country, from the beginning of its roots we saw a negative result because of this lack of tolerance against people who were not white, at times when there major social, economic, or political upheavals was taking place in the U.S. It was at these times that some groups would blame recent arriving immigrants or ethnic/religious groups different from their own for the troubles that America was experiencing. As a result, it was not uncommon for racist attitudes do develop against these scapegoats, their perception that their chosen scapegoat was un-American and harbored alien ideas which were a threat to the American way of life. Those threats had to be dealt with even if it meant violating the Constitution or an American’s basic civil rights, as we saw in the current class, the Native American, the stealing of their land, the desecration of their holy areas, the incarceration and murder; in addition to the U.S. government breaking the contracts with the natives when it was beneficial to the white people and later on with Hollywood, portraying the natives as savages in the movies of cowboys and Indians, not as people trying to defend their land from the invading terrorist and in the present time, the government still does not want to give back the sacred land the Native Americans are requesting to be returned to…

Demographers have warned that in the near future, non-Hispanic whites will be a minority of the US population. In states like Texas or California, and in hundreds of cities and counties, the future has arrived. Unfortunately, society has not reached a state of tranquility yet. This can be traced to ideas of racism, sexism, and other means of discrimination in the United States. Although some strides have been made to try and counteract these modes of discrimination, society has recently taken a step back in its development towards a tranquil state. Specifically, the rhetoric used by Donald Trump has been linked to ideas of racism and sexism.…
