America imperialized many countries during the late 1800’s and the early 1900’s. One place that was imperialized by America was Alaska. Alaska was in possession of Russia at the time and Russia felt the need to give up Alaska. Russia felt that Alaska was no use and was a waste of a territory to keep. Russia gave America an offer they could not refuse. Well, they could not say yes or no because the Secretary of State of the time, said yes without acknowledging Congress about his purchase. This Secretary of State was William Seward and he purchased Alaska for $7.2 million. Eventually, the purchase was beneficial because the discovery of gold and oil benefitted the United States of America. Unlike Alaska, Hawaii was not purchased by the United States. The Hawaiian’s refused to give up their land to America. They had full right to not leave because Hawaii was their home and Americans’ came out of nowhere in order to take over Hawaii. America forcefully took the Hawaiian’s out of their area. America brought in their military and faced the Hawaiian’s in a mini battle, which obviously the Hawaiian’s lost. They did not have as many warfighters as the Americans’ did.
