Mukherjee, explains how America spoke to her and she transform her traditions and her way of living to be accepted and to contribute in the USA. She has lived in every part of north America and merry outside her ethnic community embracing the emotional rollercoaster that was coming from conservative family. In another hand her sister Mira still holds passionately to her Indian citizenship and hopes to go back when she retires. She married an Indian student and still lives in the same place for the past 36 years she has been in America. Mira feels a sense of betrayal after giving many years of her life to the school system and now she is been ask to become a citizen, which is not in her believes.
