Amelia Earhart is someone who disappeared on her flight across the Pacific Ocean and nobody has found her body or her plane. Amelia Earhart is someone who has accomplished many things like solo flight across the Pacific, she is famous for many things, and she has been awarded many things.
There were many events that happened before Amelia Earhart became famous. Earhart was born in Kansas and was the oldest of two children. She was born July 24, 1897. In 1919, Amelia Earhart enrolled in Medical Studies at Columbia University. She moved around a lot when she was a teenager, and when she was in Chicago, she attended Clyde Park High School. Amelia then went to Columbia University.

Earhart went to Ogontz School, which was her finishing school. She went to Torontos Spadina Military Hospital to help the wounded during World War 1. Then she went to Columbia University. She went back to join her parents for a while, and then went back to Columbia University for the second time.
Earhart is famous for many reasons. Amelia Earhart was the 16th woman to ever get her pilots license. When Amelia Earhart started flying, she set world record of 18,415 feet. Amelia Earhart is also famous for her solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean. She flew across the Atlantic in 1932. In 1932, she also got awarded a gold medal by the National Geographic Society. Her flight across the Atlantic Ocean took her 14 hrs 56 min.
Amelia Earhart had good accomplishments during her lifetime. Earhart set the woman's speed record of 181 miles per hour, and she also set woman's altitude record of 14,000 feet. On June 1, 1937, Amelia Earhart began her flight across the world. She was the first person to fly from the Red Sea to India. Amelia Earhart placed third in the First Women's Air Derby.
