That dream or hope has been present from the start”(Lee). When this important term to society was created the Great Depression was already in full swing. The Great Depression began in 1929 and ended in 1938. It was a time where the entire world economy suffered major losses. Inflation increases and the quality of life went down.(Nelson) People began to lose faith in the country and began to question if the promise for a better life was even attainable in America. “The perception of America as a land of economic opportunity was broken only during the years of the Great Depression.”(Thomas) Perhaps James Adams created the American Dream as a hopeful cry that life could get
