Martin De leon was born in 1765 in Burgos, Nuevo Santander. He was born into aristocratic family of great wealth. De leon started out his education in Burgos but didn’t continue to finish it. De leon's ambitions went to a greater extent. Since he loved hunting and traveling, his desires were to create permanent settlements throughout north america. De leon petitioned the government for a colony but was not granted access, consequently this lead to multiple other petitions but was abruptly rejected each time.
