Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) is an emerging multi-disciplinary field aimed at taking advantage of advancement in technology to solve the effects of growing elderly population. It is also called Ambient Intelligence (AmI). The aim of AAL is to support the independence and quality of life of older adults. Therefore it is an important aspect of emerging field of gerontechnology, which considers how technological innovation can aid health and well-being in older age. It was derived from gerontology. It is an interesting are of study because it is different from geriatrics. It involves the study of social, cultural, psychological, cognitive aspect of ageing unlike geriatrics that is a branch of medicine that has to do with the treatment of exiting
